“This reduces the demon to a valve.” – James Clerk Maxwell
For the Wednesday, June 11, 2025 report I’ll analyse the Maxwell’s letter to P.G. Tait
The following excepts draw from the correspondence dated December 11, 1867
“Now conceive a finite being who knows the paths and velocities of all the molecules.” This being “can do no work except open and close a hole in the diaphram by means of a slide without mass.”
Considering that all the possible molecules contained by the box share a mean velocity φ, we place this finite being at the interstices of the valve. On observing a particle our entity notes the velocity to sort the solipsistic system according to varying levels of speed. One the molecules were sorted, the two sections of the diaphram could be used as a mechanical power engine. A containing vectors that are higher than the B side. Our combined entropic velocities should delineate static transmission, separating the particles on the basis of the production of heat. Whether the correspondence is conductive for traffic analysis, the autonomic sorting system gives us grounds for containing entropy in networks. J.C.Maxwell’s heavy experimentation conceives of the valves placed at the interstices of a technical piece of equipment. Adherents to the second law of thermodynamics challenge Maxwell’s system, developing mechanical philosophy that seeks to modulate molecular compression, stating the valves would add to the aggregate entropic rate.
